Manaslu Meats Pvt. Ltd. — Flood Risk Assessment

The Manaslu Meats investment proposes a modern, large-scale slaughterhouse and meat processing facility in Nepal, targeting buffalo meat and value-added products for export markets, including China and other Asian destinations. The proposed facility is intended to meet international sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) standards.

Darshan Consulting Services Pvt. Ltd. (DCS) is involved in flood assessment and the development of engineering solutions for proposed factory sites along the Bakaiya River in Makwanpur District. The study focuses on monsoon flood risk and the use of historical hydrological records to estimate flood conditions at the project sites.

Scope of Services

The scope of services includes:

  • Collect annual maximum instantaneous discharge records from nearby gauging stations, using available Department of Hydrology and Meteorology data.
  • Apply frequency analysis to estimate floods with 50-year and 100-year return periods.
  • Use areal transposition of gauged flood records to represent the project basin, as appropriate.
  • Collect precipitation data from stations within or near the catchment.
  • Carry out detailed surveys, including river cross-sections along the specified study reach.
  • Develop a HEC-RAS hydraulic model to estimate flood levels for the 50-year and 100-year events.
  • Assess flood risk and develop engineering options for the proposed factory sites.
